Corrections Policy
How to report an error on Malaysia's Top Ten, and how we review, correct and log changes to published rankings.
Last updated: 13 July 2026
Our commitment
Rankings are only useful if they are accurate. When we get something wrong — a fact, a figure, a status, a placement based on incorrect information — we correct it promptly and visibly. We would rather publish a correction than defend an error.
What counts as a correction
- Factual errors — wrong figures, dates, names, locations, certifications, prices or statuses.
- Outdated material facts — a business has closed, moved, changed ownership or lost a licence since our verification date.
- Methodology errors — a list did not follow its own stated criteria, or an ineligible entry was included.
Disagreement with an editorial judgement is not a correction — our criteria and weights are published precisely so they can be debated. We read that feedback seriously, but we distinguish "this fact is wrong" from "I would have ranked this differently."
How to request a correction
- Use the correction request form, or
- Email corrections@malaysiatopten.com.
Please include the article URL, the specific claim you believe is wrong, and — where possible — evidence or a source we can verify.
Our process
- Acknowledge. We log every correction request.
- Assess. We check the claim against our source hierarchy. We aim to assess routine requests within five working days; complex claims may take longer.
- Act. If the correction is upheld, we fix the article. Material corrections — anything that changes a fact readers may have relied on, or a ranking position — carry a visible correction note stating what changed and when. Minor fixes (typos, formatting) are made without a note.
- Reply. Where contact details were provided, we tell the requester the outcome.
Serious errors
If an entry should not have been ranked at all — for example, a licensing failure we missed in a Lifestyle ranking — we remove or replace the entry and note the change. If an entire list is unsound, we withdraw it rather than quietly rewrite it.
